Training in Ternate
Through a partnership with Save the Children UK, FEE staff have
been training teachers in North Maluku. Teacher from Tidore,
Ternate and Jailolo gathered for an eight day training in
February in Bahasa and Math. Since then, they have conducted at
least two follow-up training sessions in each kecamatan.
The FEE team are going back to Ternate again for another eight
days, including science, classroom management, training skills
and KTSP.

FEE
is once again offering its Science workshop on 28 January - 1
February 2008.

Training in Sigli, Aceh
On
22-27 January 2007, the FEE team held a workshop in Sigli, Aceh for
33 participants focusing on Math and Training Skills. The workshop
was sponsored by CARDI (Consortium for Assistance and Recovery
Development in Indonesia) and IPS (International Personnel
Services).
Again on
16-21 April 2007, CARDI brought the FEE team back to do a workshop
on Bahasa and Classroom Management for 40 different participants.
The workshop emphasized reading comprehension strategies and
promoted reading for pleasure.
Training
of Trainers : Social Studies
A training
of trainers in Social Studies was held on the last week of March
2007 at Jakarta International School. 38 elementary school teachers
from Jakarta, Bogor, Medan, Lampung, Aceh, Jogjakarta, and Surabaya
participated in the workshop. Sessions focused on leading
discussions to promote critical thinking, curriculum development
using the national curriculum and active learning methods in Social
Studies.
